Welcome to Introduction to the Science of Qiraa’aat

This is a theoretical course about the noble science of Qirā’āt القِرَاءَات. The content of this curriculum is based off a course taught in Umm al-Quraa University’s “al-Kitaab was-Sunnah” B.A. program. After this course, students will study the effects of Qirā’āt on Tafsir.

The subjects taught in this course are as follows:

1. Introduction to Qira’aat Science and its Formation

   A. Definition of the Qira’aat Science 

      i. Definition of Qira’aat Science

      iii. Importance, virtue, and benefits of Qira’aat

      iv. The difference between Quran and Qira’aat

   B. The Ahruf Sab’ah (Seven Dialects) and its Connection to Qira’aat

      i. Narrations that have mentioned the Ahruf Sab’ah and the most notable statements of scholars clarifying its meaning

      ii. The wisdom behind the Quran being revealed in ٍSeven Ahruf

      iii. The connection between the modes of recital and the Ahruf Sab’ah

      iv. Does the Uthmani Script of the Mushaf contain the Ahruf Sab’ah?

   C. Formation of Qira’aat Science and its Stages

📝 Prerequisites: must have a sincere intention and strive in learning

🔍 There will be exams to test students’ comprehension of the material.

🎓 Students will receive a certificate with the completion of this course & at least a 90% overall grade.

🗓 Classes resume 23rd of Dhul Hijjah (August 13, 2020) إن شاء الله.

🕰 Live sessions are every Thursday evening 9pm, Makkah timing. 1 hour per class.

🖥 We use the ZOOM application to broadcast live.

🎥 Registered students are able to view the recordings and follow the course at their own pace.
