When we reference a surah in the Quran why do we NOT apply idaafa إضافة?
For example, we say:
Surah al-Mu’minoon
سورة المؤمنون
And not Surah al-Mu’mineen
سورة المؤمنين
Grammatically, it would make sense to say Surah al-Mu’mineen.
But the reason we do not apply the rule of إضافة is because of the grammar rule of حكاية. This is when you relay a statement or speech exactly how it was said without any addition or subtraction.
So when you perform the ‘iraab for al-Mu’minoon you will say,
المؤمنون : مضاف إليه مجرور بياء مقدّرَة منع من ظهورها الحِكايَةُ
